Maritza & Matt, A Museum Wedding at the Michener in Doylestown, PA

Literally seconds after we shot this image, the wedding invitation blew into the water fountain on the grounds of the museum. You’d never know right? Not only is that the best way to summarize the vibe of this day, it sums up how I approach this whole wedding thing. Nothing can ever go perfectly according to plan and there’s an art to accepting that.

Maritza and Matt are both equally hilarious people. Fun, carefree, go with the flow. Both will appear quiet and reserved at first— but give us all ten minutes and we’re cracking up. Maritza does marketing for an architecture firm and Matt is an architect. Naturally, they picked a carefully curated museum venue — The Michener Museum in Doylestown, PA. I’m telling ya, there’s something about me and architect couples— we’re peas in a pod! Our mutual love for lines and space brought us together again. Maritza and Matt’s choice of venue spoke volumes of the value they place on their environment.

These two have a beautiful eye for color and design. While Matt’s crew wore ties of pinks, grays and blues, Maritza’s held muted bouquets. It really worked!

Maritza and I made a point to hang out a few times prior to the wedding.  We figured out that she lived super close to my brother’s neighborhood so we arranged to talk timelines over coffee. Cue the magic. We talked family, friends, life and art in general. I learned about where Maritza’s family would be traveling from and how special it was for certain parts of her family to be in the same room. It was going to be a big deal when her father spoke to her entire wedding audience— well he crushed it. We are still hoping for a chance to bring her Peruvian family together for family portraits one of these days.

Every wedding comes with its moments, but that is par for the course! No matter what the stressful moment was on this wedding day, it was laughed off a few minutes later. It was so refreshing to be around a crew whose humor carried the day.
