Grace and Josh – The Columns in Memphis

Memphis has always been so supportive of my work. My little brother married a girl who grew up in Memphis, and I’ve been meeting amazing couples there ever since. There are multiple, beautiful venues in Memphis – highly photogenic and ready to be captured on your special day. These include the Cadre, as well as the Opera, and the Columns which are all very wide open venues that can serve as blank canvas for any vision you want. The elegant details that come with the stories behind these places are pretty amazing.

Grace and Josh chose The Columns and it truly blew me away. The architecture alone is stunning and so historic. There is nothing like bringing a fun loving, hysterical couple to such a classic venue. They brought the life of the party to a gorgeous space. It was previously one of the first and oldest banks in Memphis. There’s even a vault door downstairs still! It is so cool!

Knowing Grace even better now, I am not surprised she chose The Columns. She works in interior design and has a gorgeous eye for color, lines and style.

Grace lights up a room with her humor and wit, making you instantly comfortable in her presence. Josh even told me “she’s the funniest person I’ve ever met.” They both grew up in Memphis and have multiple friends in common. Grace had a crush on Josh early on, but it took a few years until they could finally be each other’s date to a wedding. In fact, Josh is best friends with one of my other grooms! While Memphis can feel daunting, it gets small quick once you start to meet everyone.

At first, The Columns seems dark. I scouted it at the rehearsal and knew where we’d find the best light. Grace and I decided to start the day a bit earlier so we could get the light streaming in at 11a. It ended up literally perfect for her portraits!! We decided to do their first look out where the ceremony was going to take place, as it was mostly lit and had all their florals done.
